Welcome to a new quarantine project brought to you by the RealzTenisFanz Podcast! We are excited to have the lovely Deb (@shackle52) that most of you already know from twitter to join Realz (@realztenisfanz) and Janina (@jlr78) as we break down the Harry Potter series while Andreen is locked up in Azkaban for not sharing our love of this magical world! We will be taking a literary dive into all 7 Harry Potter books in chronological order. We hope you will be an active part of this series.
We are at the beginning of the end. We start the Deathly Hallows and even though we only got through to Chapter 1, we filled up an entire episode. We get into our anticipation of this final books. What did we imagine for the hero and the other characters. Also for the very first time, Rowling provided up with epigraph/epigram, not just one but two. Aeschylus, The Libation Bearers and William Penn's More Fruits of Solitude. They strike completely different tones but they all work together for this text.

I hope you are seated comfortably because you are for the long haul. We pulled a double duty session to bring you the exciting conclusion of the Half-Blood Prince. There was just so much to cover. Harry finally confronts Malfoy to bloody results. Snape figures out the reason for Harry's recent Potions success. Meanwhile, Harry finds out about Snape's own secret as Trewlaney is dropping bottles and bombshells. We are in a secret Voldemort cave on the Horcrux Hunt to come to a Hogwart under attack. Harry is witness to Dumbledore's death, another serious psychological blow to the young hero. We discuss all these things in spirited manner as only we can.

We are approaching an exciting conclusion for this book but we have some important matters to deal with. We find out the curse of the Defense of the Dark Arts job and of course ponder on the state of magical theory/education/world building in this series. We get into Rowlings' depiction of elves as Harry is still on Malfoy case. Near murder is again happening at Hogwart's and Harry is trying "Liquid Luck" for the first time to excellent results. We get into the secret of Voldemort's immortality as Dumbledore offers up his assessment of Harry vs Riddle.

In this episode, we get into another Dumbledore v Voldemort confrontation and the implications that lay within it. We also go into more memories and we see that Voldemort is up to his old tricks again. What about these memories that we are diving into? Are they real memories? Are they blasts into the past? We are at the Slughorn Christmas party and looking at the magical community's inability to grasp with the reality of current events. Voldemort is back and they are taking a break.

So we are BACK for the 2020 US Open Covid-19 Edition. It goes without saying that tennis is filled with drama and high-jinx. We have Karen Pestaina of Tennis Panorama News (@TennisNewsTPN) with us today to break down how this quarantined event is being covered by journalists. She gives us an insight into the players' reactions to the PTPA, the bubble and the French mistakes. In the midst of our recording, we have the men's world no. 1 up and decide that he is over this event. Novak Djokovic is defaulted for hitting a linesperson. Hear our live reactions and comments on this situation.
Of course we talked about other issues at the tournament but we all know what you are really here for.

So we are BACK and I know you missed us talking about tennis instead of magical villains, wizards, witches and goblins. But then again, this is tennis, there is always some magical element. We must say that tennis being what it is, we had to bring you another episode. Not being content with having to deal with a global pandemic, tennis decided that it wants to weigh in on racial and labour issues. We decided to invite Howard Bryant (@hbryant42), sports writer, journalist and commentator again to help us frame this discussion as well as tell us what he knows about behind the scenes. We have a lot of questions and as usual, tennis is unclear about any of its answers.

The trio's relationship dynamics as they go through their 6th year at school. Harry as Quidditch captain and dealing with the managing of his team and friends. What of Ron's desires to be on the quidditch team? His ambitions v his brothers? The Ministry of Magic is a hot mess. We are dealing with the on-going affairs at school and a discussion on the Draco v Harry affair. Katie Bell faced death and we go in depth into the past and psychology of Voldemort as 11-year-old Tom Riddle.

We are finally here at Dumbledore lesson and in true classic Black Cauldron style, we basically got through 1.5 of the lessons. Why are wizards acting so poorly about dressing in the muggle world? What of the Gaunt shack and the members that we see? The socio-economic implications of their life as well as hints of incestuous relationships. Again race/ethnicity and racial politics coming out in the wizarding world. We got into a philosophical debate of whether the love potion is no different than a date rape drug. We are very interested in hearing from you about this matter.

So in the follow up episodes, we are back at Privet Drive and meet the problematic Horace Slughorn. Harry v Draco takes on a more sinister turn? How does magical education really works? Is it really effective? What of this potions book? Plus dealing with all the teenage angst of full on puberty and growing pains of normal human existence whilst Lord Voldemort and his most deadly followers are roaming free. We are on a slow burn with the 6th book. We haven't even got to the Dumbledore's lessons as yet.

So we are finally at Book 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This is by all account the best book in the series and we have this one on a slow burn for we only got through the first 2 chapters. We provided a dramatic reading of the famous confrontation scene.
